Bit
What is a bit?
In computing, a bit (binary data) is the smallest unit of information. A bit can take on the values ‘0’ or ‘1’. Bits are grouped together to form a bit sequence, such as a byte, to represent multiple states and encode numbers or letters.
Bits play a fundamental role in the digital world and form the basis for the encoding and transmission of information in computers and electronic devices. They are used to represent and store text, images, videos and all other digital data. The speed and capacity of computers and communication networks are often measured in bits per second (bps or bit/s) to indicate the data transfer rate. The more bits per second that can be transmitted, the faster communication or data processing can take place.
