Less promises, more action!
Digitalization requires energy. Every cloud migration, every backup and every AI-Application increases energy demand. Those who operate data centers like us, carry responsibility for this – not as a marketing talking point, but in day-to-day operations. Our approach: measure rather than estimate, implement rather than announce and continuously improve rather than “merely” seek one-time certification. This also applies to us as a corporate group as a whole. We know what we’re talking about and where we can make a difference. That’s why we focus on, among other things, efficient energy management, 100% green electricity and a fleet that’s increasingly electric, as well as various other measures that enable not only sustainable operations but also sustainable work practices.

What do we do?
Energy management with a system – ISO 50001:2018
Sustainability starts with transparency. Back in 2016, we implemented an energy management system certified to ISO 50001:2018. It makes our energy usage measurable, identifies opportunities for savings and is continuously refined – every year, not just in preparation for an audit.
Data Centers: Efficiency where consumption occurs
Our data centers run on 100% green electricity – both in Herford and at our new data center in Münster. Modern, redundant cooling systems ensure that energy is converted into computing power rather than wasted as heat. And in the DTS Cloud, resources are shared and utilized efficiently – a more sustainable approach than having your own hardware sitting idle.
Mobility: An electric fleet
More than half of our company cars are fully electric or hybrid – and that number is rising sharply, as electrification is a priority for new orders. Charging takes place at 16 charging stations in Herford, using green electricity of course. We plan to expand the charging infrastructure.
Generating your own energy: The next step
Where structurally feasible, we plan to generate our own energy in the future. In Herford, the buildings pose limitations – in Münster, a photovoltaic system is already in the active planning stages. We are deliberately communicating this as a plan, not as a completed project.
Sustainability includes people
For us, conserving resources also means looking out for the health of the people who work here. This includes, among other things:
- Fresh fruit, preferably locally sourced
- Air quality monitoring
- Customized corporate fitness programs
- Consulting and coaching on nutrition, exercise and micronutrients
- Blood tests to assess individual nutrient status
- Seminars on healthy lifestyles
Knowledge, not rules
Energy efficiency can only be achieved through teamwork. That’s why we train all employees in energy management every year – and improve our system as part of an ongoing process, not through individual projects.
