Digital Workplace
What is a digital workplace?
The digital workplace is a centralized work platform that is fully digitized and accessible via mobile devices. It provides all the applications needed for work via a single interface and facilitates cross-functional collaboration. Key components of this include the integration of all data and workflows, the digitization of all data and processes and the networking of collaboration between employees in different locations.
A digital workspace typically comprises the following functions and components:
- Collaboration tools: These include instant messaging, video and audio conferencing, file sharing and collaboration on shared documents to facilitate teamwork and communication.
- Cloud services: By providing cloud-based applications, employees can access data and applications and work from anywhere, provided they have an internet connection.
- Mobile apps: Digital work environments often offer mobile apps that enable employees to access company resources from their smartphones or tablets and carry out their work whilst on the move.
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): VDI enables desktops and applications to be hosted in a central server environment and accessed by employees via the internet or a corporate network.
- Security and access control: The digital workspace must incorporate strict security measures to control and protect access to sensitive data.
- Personalization and user experience: A digital workspace often offers the ability to customize the working environment to suit employees’ needs and preferences, ensuring a better user experience.
- Automation: By integrating automation features, recurring tasks can be performed automatically, thereby increasing efficiency and productivity.
