Access Point
What is an access point?
An access point (AP, wireless access point, Wi-Fi AP) is a small networking device that acts as the interface for wireless communication within a business. The access point is often referred to simply as an AP. Not only does it look like a router, but it also works in much the same way. A local area network can be set up using a Wi-Fi access point (Wi-Fi AP). If the Wi-Fi AP is connected to a router, switch or hub via an Ethernet cable, it can transmit a Wi-Fi signal and provide coverage to areas that previously had no Wi-Fi or poor coverage.
